All Banks To Commence Zero CoT

Effective from last week Friday, January 1, 2016, Nigerian banks are expected to charge nothing as Commission on Turnover (CoT) according to the gradual phase out plan of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). The CBN in April 2013 had revised the guidelines on bank charges, introducing the gradual phasing out of commission on turnover.

The revised guideline had introduced a gradual reduction of CoT from N5 per mile (per N1000) in early 2013 to N3 per mille or N1000, N2 per N1000 in 2014 and is to be N1 per N1000 in 2015 and finally phased out effective January 1, 2016.

Although some banks had stopped charging CoT, others still charge and in some cases above the stipulated N1 per mille which it was last year. Also for some banks, the amount charged as CoT depends on the customers’ relationship and ability to haggle with the bank.

Last year, the apex bank had ordered deposit money banks to refund illegal fees charged customers over a period of one year, giving them 30 days to refund the excess charges or face severe penalties. Specifically, the central bank said some banks had been overcharging customers on the Commission on Turnover while some lenders had also imposed illegal maintenance fees on the CoT-free accounts.

Dasuki's lawyer pleads with Buhari

Counsel to embattled former National Security Adviser Dasuki Sambo, Ahmed Raji SAN, has appealed to President Buhari to allow his client go and enjoy the bail granted him by an Abuja High court on December 21st last year.

In an interview with Daily Trust, Raji said that he was too small to join words with the president.

“On the isolated case of my client- Sambo Dasuki, I plead with the President to allow him to enjoy his bail. I am too small to join words with the president of the country. I will only plead that he allows him to go on bail. In law, we have judicial review of administrative actions. We don’t have executive review of judicial decisions. That is why I would beg the president to allow all those that have been granted bail to go and enjoy it,” he said.
Dasuki who is standing trial for the misappropriation of $2.1 billion arms deal, was re-arrested immediately he met his bail condition last week.

During the presidential media chat last week Wednesday, president Buhari had suggested that the former NSA will not be released despite fulfilling his bail condition for fear of him running away and not facing the charges brought against him.

Ladies: 3 Personal Goals That Will Make You A Better Woman And Wife In The New Year

When it comes to what goals you should focus on in the new year, that decision is a very personal one. You have to think about what areas of your life need the most improvement. You also have to think about what type of change will have the most impact in your life.
Now if one of your goals for the new year is to strengthen your marriage, you have to focus on personal goals to make that happen. You can’t put yourself last on the list of priorities and expect your marriage to improve.
It just doesn’t work that way. When you put some serious effort into who you are as a person, then, and only then, will you be able to work on your relationship.
Here are 3 personal goals that won’t just make you a better woman, but will also help you have a happier marriage in the new year.

1) Build your physical strength

People always focus on weight loss, but as a woman who has successfully lost weight in the past, I can tell you that it’s not just about losing pounds. What felt even better than the smaller waistline was my newfound strength.
The tone in my arms, the strength in my legs—all of it gave me an incredible sense of confidence. When you are able to build physical strength, it has a tremendous impact on your sense of self and how you interact with others. Building confidence and strength will change who you are, and that will change how you interact with your husband in a powerful way.

2) Meditate regularly

Meditation is difficult for many people to do at all, let alone regularly. But there is no question that the consistence practice of meditating can change your life. Meditation can give you clarity and peace of mind.
With your mind in a clear and peaceful state, you are best prepared to manage any problems you may have in your marriage. When you try to work on any relationship with a cluttered mind, you can’t make much progress. Clarity breeds progress. Make meditation a goal for 2016, and you will see your marriage (and every other relationship that matters) shift into a better space.

3)Schedule time for self-care

Self-care is often mentioned as something we all need to focus on, yet so many of us don’t. We still live in a world where women give and give without taking the time to replenish and reenergize. But we must.
If we don’t, we become exhausted, frustrated, discouraged, resentful, and sometimes even depressed. Until you truly make self-care a personal goal that you follow through on, you will not be able to give the other areas of your life your best.
Once you take care of yourself with genuine love and care, you have what it takes to care for others in the same way. No one is getting the truest happiest version of who you are if you are not caring for yourself. Once you are at your best, you can finally give your marriage your best
