Patoranking

Nigerian reggae-dancehall singer and songwriter, born Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, better known by his stage name Patoranking, says he detests having sex with random girls.
The Ebonyi State-born act revealed he would rather resort to self-service than sleep around.
On his Twitter handle @patorankingfire, the ‘Alubarika’ crooner wrote, “I don’t have a girlfriend. I am not a promiscuous fellow and if I ever need to blow off steam, I would rather make use of soap in the bathroom than be with random girls.”
He also disclosed that he was single, stating that he is more concerned about his career and his family as marriage is not in his mind at the moment.
“If I tell you that I want to marry right now, would you not lie me down and beat me?
“I am single and ready to mingle. Right now, I am just concerned about my career and family.
“Marriage is not in the question for me.”

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Edo State has disclosed that no fewer than 53 persons were burnt beyond recognition in a road crash that occurred on Thursday evening at Abudu town, along Benin-Agbor-Onitsha Express road.
The agency said eight vehicles, including one motorcycle were involved in the accident.
The FRSC listed the vehicles to include two commercial Toyota Hummer buses, one Dyna truck, one tanker carrying petrol, one Ford bus and one Toyota Corrolla.
Eyewitness reports say security agents and officials of FRSC watched helplessly as the victims burnt to death as there was no fire service station at Abudu town, headquarters of Orhiomwon Local Government Area to rescue the victims.
A statement released by the FRSC, Edo State Sector Command yesterday said five other persons sustained injuries and had been taken to the hospital for treatment.
The statement said everyone in the two hummer buses, Toyota Sienna, and Corolla car burnt to ashes.
The statement said the tragic incident was due to break failure which led to explosion from the tanker.
It added that health workers from the local government authorities had been invited to take charge of the mass burial of the victims.

“ I voted at 8.35 am. It was a peaceful exercise and I am impressed with the security arrangement, early arrival of election materials.
“ This has indeed, reduced the pre-election tension which made it look as if it will be bloody,” he said.
Mr Jeffrey Chuku, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) agent at the Ward, said he was impressed with the conduct of the election in the area.
“ We are satisfied with the conduct of the election in the ward. It has been peaceful so far,” he said.
M Chibuike Maraihe, All Progressives Congress (APC) agent at the ward said, the election began early and had been peaceful.
“ I am impressed with the conduct of the election in the ward. The exercise has been free and fair here and as you can see, there is heavy security presence in the ward,” he said.

Abacha loot: Nigerian government to pay Switzerland $79m commission

abacha

There are indications that the Federal Government of Nigeria has resolved to pay the Government of Switzerland $79m (N25.2bn) commission for the recovery of almost $400m (N128bn) from the family of the late dictator, Gen. Sani Abacha.
The Chairman of the Civil Society Network Against Corruption, Mr. Olanrewaju Suraj, made this disclosure during a seminar to commemorate the 2016 International Anti-Corruption Day in Abuja yesterday.
Recall that the Presidency has also disclosed that it will commence discussion with the United States government on the repatriation of the $480m loot stashed in American banks by former Military Head of State, late Gen Sani Abacha soon.
Suraj, who was a member of a panel of discussants, said the original figure that was meant to be returned to Nigeria was about $400m, adding that the current government had secretly agreed to forfeit $79m as part of negotiations.
He said, “Unfortunately, the government goes to beg countries to get our money back rather than making demands, we appeal for the money and beg them to return it. We are fed with half information such that we even assume that we actually recover the amount stolen.
“I had a very funny experience and it is still ongoing. The $321m that the Swiss Government is meant to return to Nigeria, we discovered three weeks ago that the original money was about $400m. The legal process in Switzerland actually charged the Nigerian Government about $79m and that is why we are receiving $321m.
“The $321m is now to be returned to Nigeria with the condition that the World Bank will monitor how the funds will be spent. I cannot imagine anything more insulting.”

Gambian President rejects election result days after conceding defeat

Gambian President, Yahya Jammeh, who lost to his opponent, Adams Barrow, in the presidential election held earlier this month has now refused to accept the result, claiming there were 'abnormalities' in the votes.

Jammeh, who has been the leader of The Gambia for 22 years after a successful coup in 1994, surprised everyone last week when he called the President-elect to wish him well.

"You are the elected president of The Gambia, and I wish you all the best. I have no ill will.” He said at the time.

However, just hours ago, Jammeh backtracked and is asking for a fresh election. In his words;

“After a thorough investigation, I have decided to reject the outcome of the recent election. I lament serious and unacceptable abnormalities which have reportedly transpired during the electoral process. I recommend fresh and transparent elections which will be officiated by a God-fearing and independent electoral commission.”
President-elect, Adams Barrow, is reportedly safe and Barrow’s spokesperson said the head of the army had pledged his allegiance to Barrow after the initial result. However, because of Jammeh's reputation as a ruthless leader, there is tension amongst citizens of the nation who have been celebrating the result of the election.

Foreign nations have condemned Jammeh’s action, calling it an attempt to subvert the will of the Gambian people.
